We will celebrate the baptism of our Lord next Sunday, which follows Epiphany Sunday in the Christian year. We, as United Methodists believe that baptism is the sacrament of initiation and incorporation into the body of Christ. Baptism is a holy once-made covenant enacted by God and can only be reaffirmed, not repeated. Each member will be invited to come forward and remember their baptism by experiencing the water in your own way. You may want to simply touch the water, or make a cross on yourself. Any way you choose will be appropriate, when enacted in a genuine remembrance of your own baptism.
