February 21, 2014: Did You Know? Loretta Culp

Our dear Loretta Culp will be moving this month to be closer to her family in Tennessee. Loretta is originally from Massachusetts and her husband, Paul, who passed away this past year, was from Houston. They met in NYC in 1961, married in 1962 and lived in Riversdale, NY; Katonah, NY; Janesville, WI; Bristo, TN and now in Dallas since 1996. They have two children Nancy Perry and Robert from Chattanooga, TN; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

They learned about CHUMC from a friend who described our church as “a small church that will work you to death, but you will love it.” They joined CHUMC in October of 1997. They were active members of Class Menagerie.

Paul was a member of the worship committee, and participated in many CHUMC activities including Bible Storytelling nights, VBS, the Bridge, Amigos, church clean up days, Metrocrest, and the Community Garden. His work in Radio/TV Marketing prepared him to be the primary person operating sound/visual aid equipment at CHUMC. He also had an early career in advertising and marketing for American Home Products and Parker Pens. He owned and operated WOPI Radio Station, Bristol TN, and was the TV host for a daily weekday show on FOX, Channel 33 for a year. He was a volunteer contributor to the Dallas Morning News. He also built the case where banners, altar cloths, etc. can be stored. We have missed Paul during this past year.

Loretta has been a member of Worship, Finance, Family Life, WOW, VBS, The Bridge, Amigos, Metrocrest, Community Garden, Gifts in a Jar, Children’s Christmas Workshop, church clean up days and too many other projects to mention. Her presence will be missed on Sunday mornings as she worked with Felice operating our visual presentation of activities, songs, scripture, etc. Before retiring, Loretta worked for Interstate Batteries as Administrative Assistant and Admissions Director for the University of Dallas Graduate School of Business Management. Her interests include theater, music, travel, hiking, foods of all kinds and gardening.

Loretta still has family in the Dallas area so we hope that she will make frequent trips back to the Metroplex and will visit Chapel Hill. It is a given that she will continue to be an ambassador for Christ in her new church just as she was at Chapel Hill. Our prayers go with you to your new home.

EPHESIANS 3:18

I wish above all things that you may know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ for you.
