May 23, 2014: Did You Know? Donna Hoisington

Donna HoisingtonDonna Hoisington found us through the phone book and the website in 2011 and joined in October of 2012. She married Jim Hoisington on October 16, 2010 and started her life here on January 15, 2011, coming to us from Naperville, IL, a suburb of Chicago. She only misses the snow from December 24-31st. She grew up in Fitch, TX, which is near Borger and Lake Meredith which wasn’t there when she moved to Illinois. She is very glad to be back in Texas.

Donna is retired and does the work of a housewife, cooking, cleaning and housework now. However her hobbies keep her quite busy. She is a very professional seamstress and just acquired a Serger so look out for all the beautiful sewing she can do now. She is a member of a sewing club and made “pillow case” dresses for Africa with Chapel Hill and also with her sewing group. Not only did they sew dresses, but also sewed boys’ “jams.” Everyone was very impressed with her talent. She shared that sewing talent by being a mentor and teaching basic sewing with our youth. She loves to read, cook, bake bread and play the piano.

She presently serves as our communion steward. She taught Sunday School for many years when she was in St. Cloud, MN, and has helped with our Children’s Christmas Workshop and our Children’s Easter Celebration. Although she says she is not presently in a Sunday School Class, Class Menagerie claims her since she has visited several times. She also has volunteered at Cabell Elementary School with their hearing and vision health screenings.

Donna has a son and daughter who live 1.5 hours apart in Central, MN, so she enjoys getting to visit them when she travels there. She enjoys Jim’s 7 grandchildren as she has none. Her younger sisters live in Naperville, IL, and Oregon, WI, along with her niece and two grandnephews. She has no other family so we feel blessed to have her as part of our extended family.

EPHESIANS 3:18

I wish above all things that you may know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ for you.
