We have always gotten children’s books from Half Price Books and given them away to the students at Cabell Elementary so they would have a book for their summer reading. For years, Outreach members went to the HPB warehouse countless times to collect hundreds of books from the Saturday give-away program, which was discontinued last year. Instead, several visits to different distribution locations were needed to collect the books in 2013. HPB is not doing that any more either. So, things looked desperate for the Cabell kids and their books! I was told to go online and submit a request for the number of books we would need (about 650). I never dreamed I would get a positive response, but Chris Lopez answered my request. Not only could we have as many books as we needed, but they would make sure that the books we got are for younger elementary students. One trip to their warehouse (thank you, Kelly Patterson) and we now have 17 boxes of books!!! This truly is an answer to prayer that I had to share with everyone.
