Hello all!
As you may know, 3 of our high school girls (along with Scott Bandy and I) returned from our Mission Trip with UM A.R.M.Y. on June 18th. After taking last week off to recover from the exhaustion, I’d like to take a minute to tell you all a little bit about our trip!
We stayed at Cathedral Oaks Retreat Center in Weimar, TX and did most of our work in Hallettsville. There were four work teams, and our 3 girls were all on different teams. We did a lot of painting and a lot of construction. One group replaced a nice old lady’s back door, which had been completely destroyed by termites. We re-built porches, fixed ceilings, added siding to houses, and much more! Here are a few “before” pictures that were taken to evaluate the damages.
After the students came back from our work sites, they had some time to relax until worship. I’ve been on a ton of mission trips in my life, but I have never seen young people react this way to worship services! So many students were greatly changed during this trip. We had awesome speakers and music, and every night there were students who stayed in the sanctuary after the service was over to pray and worship together. God was definitely present in that sanctuary and throughout the whole trip. The kids on this trip built instant friendships and truly experienced God-centered relationships with one another.
Here are some more pictures of our girls on the trip!
But that’s not all, 6 of us will be leaving for our Middle School trip this Sunday! We’ll be staying at the same place and doing very similar work. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to spread God’s love to the Weimar and its surrounding cities.
