Chapel Hill UMC warmly welcomes Rev. Odom Jr as Senior Pastor.
Rev. Odom received his Master of Divinity degree from Brite Divinity School, and is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Rev. Odom was employed by IBM for 27 years, and by Xerox Corporation for 2 years. Recently, Rev. Odom has served the Greater Dallas Community of Churches as Executive Director for over three years. In addition, Rev. Odom was an adjunct faculty member at Brookhaven College in Farmers Branch, Texas where he was a professor of World Religions. Among other accomplishments, Rev. Odom has also served: • as Founding/organizing Co-Pastor of New Jerusalem United Methodist Church in Lewisville, Texas • as Founding Pastor of Pleasant Grove Fellowship United Methodist Church in Dallas • on The United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Inc. Board of Directors • on the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee of the Dallas Independent School District • as Chairperson of the Pastoral Care Advisory Committee of the Children’s Hospital • on the African American Pastors’ Coalition.
Rev. Elzie D. Odom, Jr. is a native Texan. He has been married to the Rev Dr. Janet Bell Odom for forty years and resides in Dallas.
