The youth had an awesome time at Kids in a Box! Together we raised $411 that will go to The Birthday Party Project. We had 6 youth stay overnight, and about 30 people attended a wonderful talent show.
The youth depended on members of the congregation to purchase their rights to blankets, bug spray, pillows, their cell phones, deodorant, and toothbrushes to help them understand the limitation of homelessness. We also participated in a few activities that helped them put their families’ financial statuses in perspective of those who grow up with much less. Our cardboard homes were designed, decorated, and ready to go, but unfortunately they were no match for the sprinklers that came on at about 12:30am! Although we all ended up sleeping inside, it was a fun and meaningful experience for all.
I’d like to extend a huge thank you to all who helped out by donating to the cause, volunteering their time, participating in the talent show, and praying for this special experience for our youth. This was my third time participating in Kids in a Box here at Chapel Hill, and I think this year was the best yet!
