Our lovely Easter worship service and cantata may well have been one of the best, if not the best, Chapel Hill has ever experienced. The sermon on hope by Pastor Odom reminds us that even in our chaotic world God is still in charge, and our faith determines what happens next. Then we were mesmerized with the narration by Judy and Pat of the days leading up to the crucifixion and ultimately the day of our risen Lord, yet another reminder that hope reigns and wins. It was arranged and directed by our very capable, David Lee, who artfully produced music that left us feeling we had emotionally walked with Jesus and felt His pain and confusion right up to the time He relinquished all control to His heavenly Father.
Only when you sit through a performance like this do we realize the lessons to be learned. How much greater is our opportunity to glorify God when we combine talents and reach out to others. No one village can do it all, but collaboration with several other villages (musicians, soloists, & orchestra) remove mediocrity, and provide the moment we experienced Sunday. Though it all, this is still a beautiful world, not perfect, but a challenge. And God has provided us with so many blessings that we oft forced to give thanks for; remind us, Lord, not to take this for granted.
May we use this season to reach out to others and make Disciples of Christ as instructed so many years ago. In so doing, may we give back out time, talents, gifts, and service and never forget the ultimate price paid by our Lord and Savior.
Thanks to all for a beautiful service and to God be the glory for the things that He has done!
