You may have seen in the last newsletter that I am embarking on a trip to a remote region of central Brazil in late August on a women’s mission that will include a medical/dental/eyeglasses aspect, a VBS and children’s aspect, witness and, in the last two days a conference where we will be sharing the Forgiving Forward work that Dr. Bruce Hebel brought to Chapel Hill a few years
ago. (with the Hebel’s!!!)
My trip is funded, (Praise God!, and many, many thanks to those of you who have already supported me, my heart is humbled by your generosity.)

Each mission participant will take 2 suitcases, with 50 pounds per suitcase of items needed in the communities we will visit. I’ve got my dentist ordering toothbrushes, my dermatologist on small sunscreens, and other friends figuring out what they might send… and now I am asking you, in my church family, please look at the list below, and, if so moved, bring any of the listed items to church no later than 8/11, put them in the marked box in the church office, and if necessary, label them “AMAZON OUTREACH”.
This is a quick collection, and anything that makes sense for you helps. Sometimes a person has access to items in larger quantities for reasons that wouldn’t be obvious. (Have a huge bag of unused emery boards from an ad campaign years ago?… stuff like that!) I ask that you put your thinking caps on and see if you have some kind of ‘in’ to quantities of any of the following:
Cloth diapers
New or gently used baby and small children’s clothes
Pacifiers
Sandals and flip flops
Baseball hats
Sunglasses
Soap and sample sized toiletries
Antiseptic cream
Cortisone cream
Vitamins (prenatal, adult and children’s w/iron)
Tylenol
Ibuprofen (we will be dividing up vitamins and analgesics, so the XL bottles are most cost effective)
individually wrapped non-melting candies
