Pastor’s Message: July 6th, 2020

Hello CHUMC Family,

I hope you had a joyous holiday weekend.

If you have been struggling with the technical issues we have had with our worship livestream on YouTube and Facebook, our constant testing and troubling shooting seems to have us close to returning to a quality and consistent livestream. You may have noticed we had the best audio we have had since we closed the building to in-person worship. We are prioritizing audio right now for your benefit and should soon be able to upgrade the video quality. For those of you who have, thank you for hanging in there with us. For everyone else, I invite you to give it a try this Sunday on our YouTube channel CHUMC Farmers Branch or connect via the link in the Facebook post which will appear 5 to 10 minutes prior to the start of worship.

With worship in mind, we have been given permission to observe Holy Communion online going forward. We were asked to wait until after this past Sunday so we will receive Holy Communion this Sunday. We will, then, resume First Sunday Holy Communion in August. Be sure and prepare your bread and juice prior to worship this Sunday.

We know you are longing to return to the CHUMC campus. The recent increase in Covid-19 cases demonstrates why we have not yet done so. However, you are invited to gather in small groups on the lawn or in the prayer garden. Also, the prayer garden and labyrinth are available for your personal use. Bishop McKee is requesting, however, that we wear masks even and remain socially distanced when we gather outside at this time, so please keep that in mind.

I am also providing daily devotionals via Facebook Live Monday through Thursday so you can find another way to connect there. I will aim to do so around 1:30 pm each day, so tune in and leave a comment before or after and say, “Hello.”

I miss being able to worship with you, but we will make it through to the other side.

Grace and peace,
Rev. J.D. Allen
