The Chapel Hill UMC Reopening Team met with Project Transformation this past week to discuss the possibilities for Project Transformation at CHUMC this summer. During that meeting, PT leadership walked us through their plan and protocols to maintain safety on our campus this summer. This includes a much lower enrollment this year so they can fit the program into less space with much less movement around the building and doing as much outdoors as they can.
After due deliberation, the Reopening Team came to the decision that we will be able to have Project Transformation on campus this summer. After a completely virtual program last summer with drive-thru food distribution, it will be a joy to have the children on campus this summer. It will also serve as a time for many of the children attending to make up the educational deficits they have suffered over the past year due to the pandemic.
Keep an eye out for further announcements as there will be plenty of opportunities, both virtual and in-person, for you to be a part of Chapel Hill UMC’s ministry with the PT children and their families. This is an incredible opportunity to provide hospitality and make sure those participating know that they are a part of the CHUMC family and, in so doing, show them God’s love.
Grace and peace,
Rev. J.D. Allen
