First, I want to thank all of you for the great feedback that we received after the All-Church Meeting regarding the possibility of moving to the “Single Board Model.” There were great questions asked during the meeting and a high level of participation in filling out and returning the surveys. As you might recall, Mel and I were in quarantine and unable to attend with you in person. We appreciate Tom, Larry, Pat, J.D., and others for pitching in so the meeting didn’t miss a beat.
Based on the overwhelming support in the surveys to move to the new model, the Church Council approved a motion to get approval from the District Superintendent to vote on that move at the next Charge Conference. To better prepare us for the Charge Conference, Church Council will be summarizing the questions received and answers will be provided via handout and a newsletter in September, in advance of another meeting to discuss after worship.
The feedback on the size of the new structure was more diverse. The compromise was to propose a 9-person board, but to have 2 people that are not on the board to assist in creating the bylaws for the board. This allows for more people to be involved in establishing this new structure.
I look forward to your continued input and questions as we prayerfully consider moving to this new structure. I also look forward to being with you in person when we meet again in September.
