Wheatland UMC165th Anniversary of Wheatland United Methodist Church!

Remember how excited we were as a congregation when we celebrated our Chapel Hill United Methodist Church 50th Anniversary?

Chapel Hill UMC has been invited to send a “Word of Greeting” to celebrate the 165th Anniversary of the founding of the historic Wheatland United Methodist Church.

Peter McNabb, the Pastor at Wheatland United Methodist Church, wrote that it would be very meaningful to their celebration gathering if Chapel Hill UMC would send a word of greeting to the Wheatland UMC family as they enjoy this special day.

Wheatland was a community when Wheatland United Methodist Church was founded in 1847, and when that community was later taken into the City of Dallas, the church was often referred to as The Country Church in the City. The church is located at 8000 South Hampton Road, Dallas, Texas 75232.

It was suggested that Chapel Hill UMC might do a “church congregation signing” by passing a large card through the sanctuary on a clipboard with pen during Sunday Service. We could sign on the card and if/when the card is full, which is quite possible, we could continue to sign on regular paper sheets that can be included with the card.

We can then send our greeting to the Wheatland 165th Anniversary Chairwoman, Ginger Williams, 1024 Medalist Drive, Dallas, Texas 75232. For those of you who are “homebound for whatever reason” you can send a card with your greeting to this address if you wish.

It is an honor to be asked to participate with our “congratulations” for the 165th Celebration of Wheatland United Methodist Church on September 30, 2012.
