Rev. Mai Le

Hello Chapel Hill,

I’ve been in communication with Team Africa and everyone is doing well. The luggage has finally arrived. As of 9:36 AM this Monday morning, I was told that our team finished their first day of work, building a 5 blocks tall (approximate 5 feet tall) wall, and making great progress. Tomorrow, the team will do some work on the windows. The best part is that the team has received great support from the new friends they have made. They have been serenaded with songs and dance by 20 women and have been having a wonderful time. I was curious about the food the team has had to eat while on their trip to Africa and was told that it was mostly geared towards what we eat here in the US; sandwiches, eggs, ham, toast, soda, instant coffee, and more.

At home, our mission and outreach team has put a list together for Back-to-School supplies and I ask for your help in supporting the children of Cabell Elementary and the children served through Metrocrest Social Services. Stop by the church’s office to pick up the list if the one you have has happened to be misplaced. These children and their families will be very thankful to God for what you do.

Many people of our time do not like to come to church because they think it is a boring place with unfamiliar music and dull sermons. I truly wish that they visited Chapel Hill. We might be a small church but our heartfelt feelings for both God and our neighbors are real. Often I intuitively sense that there are many who hunger and thirst for God and secretly hope to find a place to belong. My prayer is that you and I get to meet them, so that we can reach out to them and invite them to come and worship with us. Even for those who have said that they are bored or disenchanted with the church, I’ve seen how quickly their opinion changes when they experience God’s presence among the fellowship of believers. God is in the business of changing people’s hearts and we have been entrusted to carry out his work through the church. Together we can care for and be the representatives of Christ to those whom God has sent to us.

I hope you have a blessed week and I’ll see you at church this Sunday if not sooner.

Mai
