February 28, 2014: Did You Know? Kelly Patterson

Kelly Patterson came to our church through participation in the Community Garden. She has been very instrumental in the success of the garden by not only having a plot, but displaying her artistic abilities by making scarecrows that can be seen as you enter the garden. She joined the church shortly after she started coming and has been a true blessing to the Chapel Hill community ever since that day. She was born in Harbor California but is a true Texan now. She is a massage therapist and many of us in the church can attest that she is one of the best.

Kelly has joined in some youth, PT, and children’s activities, as well as helping with background scenery for VBS and other events. She has made a full animal nativity scene that we hope to use in the future. She is presently making a great costume for her niece’s “Harry Potter” birthday party, in which she walks on stilts. She also made an animal costume for her husband, Kevin. Ask her to show them to you and you will be quite impressed. She is a member of Toastmasters and has held leadership roles as a mentor and speaker.

We cannot talk about Kelly without mentioning her very active role in Outreach. She has been generous enough to donate her services as a massage therapist for auction items raising money for a variety of needs. She has gone on several mission trips, including the African trip, and is one of the hardest workers on those crews because of her passion for helping others. She goes with other Chapel Hill members to serve at the Bridge and always participates in their other activities with that beautiful smile. She is also part of the newly formed Walkie Talkies and the new Sunday School Class that just started. She presently has three rescue dogs and is great at training them to be friendly around guests in her home.

Her hobbies include dance, singing, pets, travel and reading. Other things of interest to Kelly are paragliding, rock climbing, flying, hiking, backpacking, wild life, arts/crafts, languages, sewing, and fish. On her wish list is sailing. She is obviously a very curious and interesting person. It would be to your advantage to get to know Kelly better as a friend and as a member of Chapel Hill.

Kelly has been married to Kevin Patterson for a little over a year and they just celebrated their 1st anniversary with a trip to Belize. He is helping with our website when time permits and of course, supports Kelly in her many projects. Kevin has been on our prayer list as he continues to have treatments for a serious illness. We are blessed to have this kind and generous couple in our church.
