As we say good bye to our 100 kids and Project Transformation interns, may I say this is the best summer program ever in our history. God blessed us with polite, happy and cooperative kids and interns who lavished love and dished out discipline, depending on the circumstances.
For those of us who are “numbers people,” you might be interested in just what is required of a PT project. So here is the numbers report:
- # Interns – 11
- # Intern helpers – 5
- # Children enrolled – 100
- # Meals served – 2,900
- # Coordinators – 4
- # Reading tutors – 100 (# is estimated, but could be more)
As you can see, this did not happen overnight.
The PT Family Fun Night consisted of a dinner served to all, and a talent show with approximately 185 people in attendance. This number is in addition to the 2,900 served during the summer program.
The curriculum covered: devotionals, crafts, cooking, and studies of other countries, music, dance and science. As we close out 2014, we can be proud of this profound outreach but as we all know, it takes a village.
