March 14, 2014: Did You Know? Nancy Hartman

Nancy Hartman, another true Texan was born in Dallas, TX, and still lives in Dallas. She has one brother, two sons, Randy and Greg, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter. Although she is not a charter member, she is very close to that distinction. The Rev. Bob Langley knocked on their door and continued to invite them until they joined Chapel Hill. She has been on just about every committee offered at Chapel Hill and is presently on the Trustees, Worship, and Adult Christian Education Committees. She is an active member of the Chloe Circle and has held a variety of offices for the United Methodist Women. She is a member of the Farmers Branch Woman’s Club and is on the board of directors.

If you want to see some of Nancy’s creativity, just look around Chapel Hill. She worked very hard on making Fellowship Hall the appealing room that it is today. She has been known to paper and paint where it is needed as well as cleaning pews, floors, and woodwork. The parlor has been made a beautiful, comfortable meeting place by her handiwork along with others. She has worked on, including painting, the conference room and Pastor’s office. She also has been instrumental in updating the Hospitality Area in Fellowship Hall. On Tuesdays, you can find Nancy with the Holy Folders getting your newsletter sorted and ready for distribution. She has taught Sunday School in her earlier days and helps with VBS and Children’s Workshop. She makes one tired just watching her at work.

Her hobbies include decorating, making yo-yo throws, reading, and journaling. She has designed and made clothes in the 60s and 70s. Before retiring, she served as V.P. of Lending at Dallas Bank and Community Re-investment Offices working to enrich accounts for low-income neighborhoods. Renovation that she headed up for the bank at the cost of $250,000, resulted in Chapel Hill getting some great pieces of furniture for the Conference Room, Pastor’s office, Library and Secretary’s office as a donation from the bank.

On Nancy’s bucket list, she would like to write an inspirational book and go on a hot air balloon ride. She wishes she had been an architect or a writer. She is a wonderful, caring, sharing and loving person. God has blessed us by her presence at Chapel Hill.
