March 21, 2014: Did You Know? Kim Connally Rangel

There is someone in our congregation who was actually raised in Farmers Branch and has been an invaluable part of our congregation ever since she was born. If you guessed Kim Connally Rangel, you would have been right. As she said, “Praise God” for being a part of Chapel Hill and I know we all praise God for her presence. She became a member after going through Confirmation Class. She is the only child of Kirk and Claire Connally who are also very active members of Chapel Hill.

Kim is married to Joel Rangel, who is an electrician and owns his own business. Fortunately, Joel has shared his talent as an electrician with Chapel Hill and for that we are blessed. Kim and Joel have a precious, precocious son, Jake who is four years old. Look for Jake giving high fives to parishioners as he leaves Children’s Time on Sundays. Kim was one of the faithful followers of our church school and youth group. She was an invaluable part of the mission trips that Chapel Hill sponsored and it played an integral part of who she is today. On one youth trip to the coast, she spent much of the time interacting with the Spanish speaking children that the team worked with and came away saying that she wanted to have a career working with Hispanic children. As a consequence, she became fluent in Spanish and has worked with Hispanic children in a multitude of ways as a Social Worker. She is presently a Social Worker at the Disciplinary Alternative School for the CFB school district. They are extremely lucky to have a person as devoted as Kim working with the youth of that school district.

Kim has taught Sunday School during the summer and was a youth teacher with David To, one of our youth ministers. She also was active with our WOW group which was an interactive program through Cabell Elementary School. She has been Children’s Chair, Youth Chair, Outreach Chair and is presently Worship Chair and on SPR. As she stated, in her 43 years, she has worked on almost every committee and/or event. She is a member of the newly formed LAF (Lost and Found) Sunday School Class.

As far as hobbies go, she has put them aside for the time being as she works 50 hours/ week and raising an energetic young man named Jake. Even with her busy lifestyle, she is a big influence in our Farmers Branch community and in our church. Kim has helped Chapel Hill work through many challenges and joys in her years of service. She is indeed a true disciple of Christ so be sure to tell her how blessed we are to have her as a caring, sharing and loving member of Chapel Hill.

I wish above all things that you may know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ for you.
