From the Desk of the Trustees

After a review of our security, we are making one change effective immediately and we ask your cooperation in this matter. We feel it is in the best interest of all the ladies, and youth of the church that none of them are alone in the church at night and on weekends. If other meetings are going on and other members are here, that is acceptable. Unfortunately, gone are the days when we could leave our homes unlocked and never worry, but today’s theme is “trust God, but lock your car!” As you know Jimmy is the last one to check the church each night, fill out a report and give to Trustees. We anticipate all meetings will be over by 9:00 pm, but we also realize several committees meet back to back. Just be aware of Jimmy’s situation and do all you can to help out on his trips.

You have probably noticed there is some renovation going on. We ask your patience on these projects. We have now completed the Children’s Wing new floor and hallway painting, which also serves as the German School area. We are now in the process of taking down wall hangings in the Narthex so we can paint that area but some prep work is required so it may take several weekends. After that, we plan to take up the carpet in the Adult Wing and replace with the same tiles used in the other wing. These are all general maintenance items of the church on an ongoing basis. Trustees and Finance continue to work together and have a priority list prepared by Trustees. This way we hope to keep open lines of communication between the two committees and hopefully be more efficient stewards of our finances.

Along those lines we invite the Methodist Men to join us on Saturday, September 26 at 9:00 A.M. Our goal is to organize the Trustees room which was recently relocated to the Adult Wing in order to provide more space to the GISD. If we can get some help moving things out of the old nursery, we can finish installing the new tile flooring like what is in the new nursery. This flooring is already paid for and a generous, knowledgeable member will install it pro bono! We can use a lot of help to finish all the multiple projects going on all over our church.

Thanks to all who continue to support our committee. God has richly blessed us with our talents.

Sincerely,

Charlie Wood, Chairperson-Trustees
