Pastor’s Message: Nov. 2, 2020

I pray you are doing well this day. We know this year’s pandemic has created a number of social, emotional, physical, and financial challenges for many, if not all, members and supporters of CHUMC. Thus, this communication comes with that understanding in mind.

As you are probably aware, the pandemic has presented challenges for our local church as well. The German International School of Dallas at first closed their campus for a number of months and is now reopened with a smaller enrollment and using less space. Giving to CHUMC has also decreased to a degree since the pandemic caused us to close off the building for gathering purposes until this month. These factors have created a decrease in revenue at CHUMC such that our giving and other revenue is not currently covering all expenses.

We found some relief early on through a loan, which is almost certain to become a grant, via the Payroll Protection Program of the United States government. However, those funds have been exhausted as of September.

Therefore, it is time for us to put out a call to you, our members and supporters to ask for your help. If you have fallen behind on your faith pledges for this year, and are able, please prayerfully consider bringing your giving up to date. Also, if you are able, please prayerfully consider giving above and beyond your pledge at this time so we can meet our expenses.

Your consideration and giving will enable us to continue our vital ministry geared toward engaging our community with the love of God, making disciples of Jesus Christ, and serving one another and our community in ways that transform the world in which we live.

You all already give so much of prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness to support CHUMC, your local church, and we know we can join together as we continue to navigate the turbulent waters of this pandemic.

Grace and peace,

Rev. J.D. Allen
Senior Pastor

I wish above all things that you may know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ for you.
