June 6, 2014: Meet Our New Youth Director, Chris Bodie

Youth DirectorHello, my name is Chris Bodie, and I am very excited about joining the Chapel Hill community as the new youth director. I am 26 years old and a native of Atlanta, GA, but grew up in Coppell, Texas. I attended the University of North Texas, where I graduated with a degree in History.

Being a youth at my home church, First UMC in Coppell, I experienced the love of my church for me and recognized the importance of the church’s role in shaping the life of faith in young people. During my time at UNT, God called me into ministry, and since then my passion has been to serve youth in the church setting.

As an intern at First Coppell, I taught Sunday School to our middle school youth; implemented a new Youth Bible study, and assisted the Youth Director to organize and to lead a mission trip to New Orleans. I also organized and led Wednesday night youth fellowship, which includes activities and a time of devotion. During this intern time, I occasionally preached during our student service, covering various topics and issues that the students face on a regular basis.

I just completed my first year at Perkins School of Theology, SMU, working on my Master of Divinity degree. I’m also an Eagle Scout.

Some of my passions include working with the homeless, persons with disabilities, and anything to do with being in mission. During free times, I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, and watching/attending sporting events.

I am looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you. I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve Jesus and the youth at Chapel Hill.

EPHESIANS 3:18

I wish above all things that you may know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ for you.
