Part of the Pastoral Care here at Chapel Hill is that folks who are heading into surgery or a real hard place in their lives are offered a hand cross to hold as a reminder that Christ is always present and will never leave us comfortless or orphaned.
The idea is that the hand cross will be passed on to another person with a hard situation to offer encouragement and hope or the cross can be returned to me and I will continue to circulate this symbol of God’s great love for us to the next person who might have need of it.
You are encouraged to keep the cross as long as you have need of it, but at this time there are about 10 crosses circulating in our body of Christ and I am simply asking that if you no longer need yours, please bring them in so that I can keep sharing them with others who might benefit from holding on to them.
