From Pastor Mai Le: July 5, 2013

Dear Chapel Hill,

Rev. Mai LeWith much love, I am writing to share with you my joy and my gratitude for being appointed to Chapel Hill, the faith family I know and love very much. After six years being away, I am looking forward to seeing those I have known and to meeting new Chapel Hill family members. Together, we will care for one another, grow in faith and love, and we will serve Christ.

How much you have changed! I can’t believe the work that you have done, the Community Garden, the Project Transformation, the German School, and the mission to Mozambique, just to name a few. I was told that we now have a bus for church trips. On the one hand, God has blessed our church greatly with the people, resources, and the leadership in all these efforts. On the other hand, these changes reflect so much the spirit of our church. Chapel Hill has not hesitated to step up to answer God’s call and to meet the needs of the church, of the community, and of the time; all in the name of Christ. I believe with that same calling from God, you and I are to embark on this faith journey together. It is only with God’s providence that we are now together again.

As for our family, Sarah and Samantha are now young adults. Sarah is an ICU nurse working at Zale Lipshy. Sam will be in grad school at TWU in Denton beginning August 2013. Mark is still teaching at UTD. He is very excited that I am appointed to Chapel Hill. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Maui in October 2011, just the two of us leaving the kids at home. I must give our Children’s Ministry team a secret though. If you ever need a Sunday School teacher for the little ones, and I know we have many, don’t hesitate to let Mark know. My only fear is that he spoils the children. If you don’t believe me, just ask Sarah and Sam.

I am so excited for the future ahead of us and look forward to serving in the church with you. I am still in classes in Omaha from where I am writing this letter, but I will answer phone calls and emails as soon as I hear from you. I’ll be in the office this coming Wednesday, July 3rd. If you are in the area or at the church, please do not hesitate to stop by my office to say hello.

May God continue to bless you and your family. Have a happy Fourth of July holiday and I will see you at church on July 7th. Remember, it’s Communion Sunday.

Mai

EPHESIANS 3:18

I wish above all things that you may know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ for you.
