April 20, 2015: Message Experience

Last week we started a six week series called “Kitchen Craze.” The children will be learning about God through cooking! We had a great time talking about Following God’s Plan. The children were given cake mix and a choice of three ingredients to use to make the cake. They were not given any instructions at first. Joseph Kim said it best: “If we don’t follow God’s plan, we won’t get the good stuff!”

This week we are talking about being patient. Each child was given the opportunity to taste cooked instant mashed potatoes. Good things come with patience. We talked about what it means to be patient. Colossians 3:12 says: As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience. God tells us to put these on.

After finishing the mashed potatoes, we talked about adding more to them to make them even better. To your potatoes, if you want, you can “put on” butter, salt, bacon bits, etc. In the same way, when you are saved, your life is made complete. You’re saved. You’re going to heaven, but God doesn’t want you to stop there. He wants you to grow and follow Him, to become like him by adding, not only patience, but kindness, compassion, humility and gentleness to your life.

EPHESIANS 3:18

I wish above all things that you may know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ for you.
