Pastor’s Message: October 12th, 2020

We continue through this wilderness which we have discussed these past several weeks. Let’s reflect on a couple of themes from yesterday:

1) Comfort

Perhaps God seems absent to us right now. We face uncertainty. Frustration. Perhaps we are suffering. For the Israelites, Moses and God had been on the mountain for 40 days and they grew restless. They forgot the source of the simple things, such as manna and water, which God continued to provide. What simple things in life is God still providing you to assure you of God’s presence? How can you express your gratitude?

2) Call

In their restlessness, the Israelites forgot where they came from and who God called them to be. Who does God call us to be, as baptized followers of Christ, in the Church? How do we love God with all that we are and our diverse neighbors as ourselves? How do we share the good news of a liberating God who is faithful to God’s promises and who is gracious and forgiving?

Grace and peace,

Rev. J.D. Allen
Senior Pastor

EPHESIANS 3:18

I wish above all things that you may know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ for you.
