Bad Girls of the Bible: Delilah

Sometimes we assign labels to people based solely on our expectations or pre-conceived notions.  Many times, we label people as ‘bad’ based on our own fears, or our own notions of what is bad or good.  However, occasionally we label people as ‘bad’, not meaning the opposite of good.  Many times I have heard myself saying. “That Dak Prescott is a bad quarterback, especially for a rookie”.  That does not mean Dak is lousy, but rather that Dak is really good.

There are many women in the Bible who have traditionally been labeled as bad.  But perhaps they could be considered as good.  In this sermon series, we will take a look at several of these ‘bad girls’.  We will seek to see if they have perhaps been mislabeled, and more importantly, what good lessons we might learn for our own faith journeys, from these ‘Bad Girls of the Bible’.

Last week, we took a look at the story that Eve gives to us in the book of Genesis. Eve has always been labeled as a Bad Girl, but we found from her story that knowing God helps us as we go through our lives helps us to not be fooled into doing what we shouldn’t and that if we make a mistake, we shouldn’t blame others. Eve was able to help us with her story. What will we learn this Sunday from Delilah?
