A Tribute

This past week was bittersweet with the passing of our beloved friend, Bob Bull. We came to grieve our loss and support the Bull family through this tragedy, of a life cut way too short. We connected with friends we had not seen in years. We were reminded of the early days of Chapel Hill raising our kids together and forging friendships that have stood the test of time. We witnessed how all these babies we raised had grown, married, and same had children of their own. It reinforced that no matter how long we may go without seeing each other, it is always good to reconnect and remanence, we make memories over the years and it is true that it takes a village. We built a wonderful church in the “city in a park.” We raised our kids in a Christian environment and watched them grow into adults and responsible parents. We can truly be proud and praise God for all we accomplished and for Bob’s part of this process.

Saturday evening, we came back to David’s concert. We experienced young people up to the age of 43 coming together singing in different languages and our souls and spirits were replenished. There is always a lot of work putting together such an evening; many rehearsals, etc. It has been said “music soothes a troubled soul” and indeed it did.

It only goes to show, whether we are celebrating the life of a dearly departed friend or rejoicing in music to calm a troubled mind, it takes a village. It’s our village and for as long as we are here, it takes all of us working together, supporting, and loving one another in good times and bad. Yes, it takes a village, and I give thanks to God for ours.

I wish above all things that you may know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ for you.
